james letter 1-23-12

Last Monday we cleaned the temple for our P-day. We got to see all the inner workings of the temple. It was crazy to see all the mechanical stuff in the basement. When we were done we got to take a tour of the temple. We saw inside almost all of the rooms. The Holy of Holies was locked, along with another room inside of one of the sealing rooms. They wouldn't say what that one was. They also took us out on the roof. It was sweet to be up on the roof of the temple. We also got to climb up one of the spires. It was sweet.
Tuesday we had our interviews. It was really nice to be able to talk to President Morby, and tell him how things are going and how I'm feeling. I felt so much better about things after we were done.

This Wednesday we taught five lessons. It was non stop teaching from two to 9, with a break for dinner and that was it. After our dinner we went out with our new EQP. His name is Bro Dery. He got called last Sunday.
Saturday we had the adult sesson of our Stake Conference. The speakers were really good, and after the first hour the General Authority Elder Lyn G Robbins opened it up to a Q&A sesson. I had never seen one of those before, it was an interesting experience.
Sunday we had our Stake Conference, and we got to find out who the new Stake President was. It turned out to be the 2nd couselor, who had already served the whole ten years with the last Stake President. Talk about a long time. The first couselor has three callings too. He is 2nd couselor in the Mission Presidency, Temple Recorder, and now 1st counselor in the Stake Presidency. Crazy, huh?
Thats about all for this week except for one thing I learned at Stake Conference. To preface this I will give you a scripture; Alma 7:11-12
So we now from the scriptures and from modern revelation that the Atonement not only covers our sin, but it helps us through times of sickness and sorrow. So how is it that we access the Atonement? The easy answer, and the one that I knew was that of repentance. That is how the sinner uses the Atonement to acheive forgiveness for their sins. But how is it that someone who is going though hard times can also use the Atonement. That answer is through forgiveness. For example, if someone was the victim of assualt, emotional or physical, in order to use the healing power of the Atonement they must forgive the person(s) that have wronged them.
Just something to think about.
Thats about all for this week. I'll send pictures to dad.
Love you,
Elder Schultz
